European–Japanese Glass Knowledge Exchange

lass Trend have announced an upcoming online seminar entitled "Glass Horizons: a European - Japanese Knowledge Exchange on Glass" .To support this exchange within the glass industry, the Japanese New Glass Forum (NGF) and GlassTrend are holding a joint virtual seminar on 26 September from 08.00 am to 12.00 pm CET/03.00 pm to 07.00 pm JST.

The event comprises six presentations, three will focus on technologies and services from the Japanese industry including:

Anchor Glass Container Corporation Successfully Completes Refinancing

Anchor Glass Container Corporation has successfully strengthened its balance sheet by amending and extending its term loan credit agreements and asset-based revolving credit facility. As a result of the transaction the company will have meaningful incremental liquidity.

The transaction was executed with solid support across the entire capital structure, including the holders of over 99% of its first-lien term loans and over 95% of its second-lien term loans, 100% of asset-based revolving credit facility lenders, and its equity sponsor CVC Capital Partners.

Climate Concern Drives Architects Beyond Building Regs for Overheating

Global warming in the UK sees solar control glazing judged essential by many architects.

Nine in 10 architects are going above and beyond the minimum requirements for tackling overheating in new homes as developers seek to protect residents against extreme heatwaves according to a new study by Pilkington UK. The glass manufacturer polled 100 architects 12 months on from the introduction of UK Part O building regulations, which laid out stricter measures for new homes to minimise their risk of overheating.

Leaders from across Chile visited the Cristalerías Padre Hurtado plant to discus glass recycling futures.

More than 15 leaders from across the country visited the Cristalerías Chile Padre Hurtado plant to learn about the production process and its glass recycling plant. The President of the Asociación de Recicladores [National Association of Waste Pickers] Soledad Mella, said: "Cristalerías Chile has always been close to waste recovery firms, facilitating their facilities, offering support in training and certification of skills and now, in the search for an agreement that supports us in the just transition of recycling."

AGC Joins Study to Achieve Carbon Neutrality at Industrial Complex

AGC has announced together with Air Water Inc. that it has joined the memorandum of understanding (MoU) on a joint study into activities for the establishment of a carbon neutral industrial complex in the Goi district of Ichihara City and the Soga district of Chiba City in Japan. The project aims to realize a sustainable society and enhance the international competitiveness of the industrial complex in the districts by studying measures to achieve carbon neutrality among companies in diverse industries.

Albotherm Awarded £500k Innovate UK Grant to Scale Smart Shade Coating

Albotherm has developed a smart shade coating that is transparent in cold weather but automatically converts to opaque in hot weather to provide on-demand shade, optimising crop growing conditions and reducing solar overheating. In commercial greenhouses, the technology allows crops to benefit from the early morning and evening light, while being protected from the heat of the midday sun, boosting overall light levels by 18% and demonstrating a 34% increase in crop yield compared to standard shading.
