High performance anti-reflective glass launches in the UK

Pilkington OptiView Ultra highly transparent and anti-reflective glass by the NSG Group.

Pilkington OptiView Ultra, an anti-reflective and highly transparent glass by the NSG Group, has launched in the UK to support architects specifying for the retail and leisure sectors. The high performance glass can reduce visible light reflectance to less than 1%, compared to 8% typically provided by standard glass. The neutral colour of the coating provides a more natural view through the glass, improving clarity and preserving the true colours of the viewed area.

AGC and Helexia Implement Rooftop Photovoltaic Plants in Spain

AGC Flat Glass Ibérica partnered with Helexia exploit the photovoltaic potential of its largest industrial unit in Spain.

AGC Flat Glass Ibérica, in collaboration with Helexia España, have announced the commissioning of a 4,600kW photovoltaic plant for self-consumption on an industrial site at the Port of Sagunto, Valencia. The plant has 8,800 photovoltaic modules covering 48,400m2 of the rooftop, the equivalent of 10 football fields. With an annual production of 7GWh, this project will help to avoid the emission of more than 800 tons of CO2 equivalent per year.

Glass Futures Secures Decarbonisation Research Funding

Glass Futures is the focus of £18m research funding.

Glass Futures will continue to find solutions for decarbonising energy intensive industries thanks to £7m funding and £11m for its members from the UK government's Department for Energy, Security and Net Zero. The £54m Global Centre of Excellence in St Helens will be involved in three projects to pave the way for the glass and ceramic industries to drastically cut carbon emissions.

Ammonia Used as Fuel in AGC Production Furnace

AGC has announced that it recently succeeded in the world's first demonstration test of glass production using ammonia as fuel in an actual production furnace under the project entitled “Technology Development for the Utilization and Production of Ammonia as Fuel” which is being undertaken as a commissioned project by New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO).
