Wiegand-Glas places batch plant and cullet house order

Germany’s Wiegand-Glas has placed an order with ZIPPE Industrieanlagen for a batch and cullet house, as well as two cullet return systems for the Schleusingen glass container factory. This follows the recent completion of a ZIPPE batch house at the Wiegand-Glas plant in Steinbach am Wald. The batch and cullet house in Schleusingen is designed to supply two melting furnaces.

Silo sand feeding is effected by a mechanical system, while other raw materials are fed pneumatically. All silos are weighed in order to record the exact raw material inventory. Weighing of raw materials is realised via eight container scales, as well as two small component scales. During the batch mixing process, three high duty pan mixers will be employed. By a redundant batch transport system, batch is transported to the corresponding furnace pre-silos. In the batch house, a complex cullet dosing system will also be integrated.

The different external cullet types can be dosed by the 12 belt scales. Three further belt scales located directly in the furnace building effect the addition of internal cullet. Furthermore, two cullet return systems will be delivered. Five scraping conveyors, as well as approved crushing technology will be implemented. The resulting internal cullet is conveyed directly to the cullet silos of the furnace building, where it is returned to the melting process.

A project to supply the first melting furnace will be operational at the beginning of 2020, followed by a second line shortly thereafter. ZIPPE’s scope of supply involves complete steelwork including silos, equipment delivery and control system, as well as complete services such as installation, cabling, piping, commissioning and the training of glassworks personnel.
