Second site allows expansion at inspection solutions specialist

When industrial premises became available immediately behind the headquarters of IRIS Inspection machines on the outskirts of Lyon, it was too good an opportunity to miss for business expansion. To accommodate a growing order book and following refurbishment, the extra space has allowed the French inspection solutions specialist to relocate its production/assembly operations and spare parts department into a dedicated building.

The move has released valuable space within the company’s main building to allow further departmental reorganisation and expansion. IRIS moved into its 1000m2 Bron headquarters in 2013 to accommodate growing global demand for the company’s non-contact glass container inspection machinery. Subsequently, the business has continued to prosper, thanks to the success of its EVOLUTION equipment throughout the world. This has placed additional pressures on space for production, spare parts, research and development and customer training facilities. Purchase of the new 2000m2 building has eased that pressure significantly.

“The new production facility allows us to apply lean manufacturing methods for waste minimisation, without sacrificing productivity” says Jean-Luc Logel, Chief Executive Officer. “It allows us to build the 150 machines currently ordered annually by our customers, with the opportunity to accommodate further significant expansion in the future.”

Within the company’s nearby main building, an innovation lab has been created, where IRIS development engineers can test prototypes and the latest software innovations, as the company continues to explore future development opportunities in association with key customers.
