Together with the UK's Society of Glass Technology, AGC Inc has established the Michael Cable Award to recognise achievements in glass research. The award commemorates the work of the late Professor Michael Cable from the University of Sheffield, who produced numerous outstanding achievements in the research of glass processes such as melting and moulding.

The aim of the award programme is to commemorate and honour researchers who have demonstrated outstanding results in the study of glass production technology. As a leading international glass company, AGC is hopeful that the establishment of this award programme will help to further advance global research.
