Melting equipment contract for Schleusingen project

The SORG Group has been awarded a contract for the planning, delivery, construction and commissioning of the glass melting system at the Wiegand-Glas plant in Schleusingen, Germany. The melting furnace is a gas-heated, regenerative, end port furnace, with a melting capacity of 450 tonnes/day for flint and light green glass. Four forehearths are connected to the melting tank by means of a SORG STW distributor. According to the production machine configuration, two SORG 340S+ and two SORG STF forehearths are to be installed.

The melting furnace and forehearths will be optimised to the needs of Wiegand-Glas, featuring unparalleled energy consumption, glass quality, emissions and maintenance and said to represent a milestone in the industry. SORG will conduct complete engineering of the melting end for refractories and furnace steelwork, including platforms. Delivery of all equipment, its assembly with wiring and piping are covered by the SORG services.

All refractory and steel assemblies, as well as the delivery of steelwork will be carried out by SORG Feuerungsbau. Commissioning of the complete furnace will be undertaken by SORG Feuerungsbau and Nikolaus SORG.
