One of Architectural Thread’s latest projects is The Buttermarket in Redruth where they experimented with adopting shingles as part of a bespoke design feature for the key facade. Inspired by the shingle profiles on the local buildings in the area and with sustainability at the heart, the team explored materiality and tested elements of the design through a number of stages.

Thread say: “We are delighted to be working Oseng-Rees Reflection and their recycled glass material for the shingle material, for its sustainability and aesthetic properties. This revolutionary new use for recycled glass material as shingle material, followed extensive material development and testing, before it was determined that the recycled glass was fit for new purposes. The use of this unique and innovative material provides an excellent choice for anyone seeking to simultaneously enjoy the beauty of this material and contribute to a more sustainable future.

The project is currently on site and is due for completion in Summer 2024.
