14th AIGMF International Conference

The 14th AIGMF International Conference attracted over 100 attendees.

A highlight of the recent glasspex and glasspro India 2023 shows in Mumbai was the parallel 14th International Conference of The All India Glass Manufacturers’ Federation (AIGMF) on 15 September.

Staged in partnership with Glass Worldwide, glasstec and Messe Düsseldorf India, the conference focused on ‘Decarbonisation for the Sustainable Glass Industry’ and presentations from leading international experts attracted a packed audience including senior representatives from prominent glassmakers including AGI Greenpac, Asahi India Glass, Borosil, Cello, Empire-Vitrum, Gopal Glass Works, Gujarat Guardian, Haldyn Glass, Kapoor Glass, La Opala, NIPRO, Neutral Glass (Gerresheimer), PGP, Schott and many more.

The content-driven session was moderated by Glass Worldwide’s Dave Fordham and highlighted key issues surrounding sustainability and developments in the field of glass melting. Technical presentations included:

  • Accelerating international capability for a circular economy (Neil Butler, Glass Futures).
  • The future of glass furnaces in a decarbonised world (Steve Burns, FIC).
  • New melting technologies require updated refractory monitoring methods (Fred Aker, PaneraTech).
  • All-electric forehearths and the role they play in a carbon neutral glass manufacturing industry of the future (Grahame Stuart, Electroglass).
  • In-furnace thermal imaging for process optimisation for energy reduction and asset protection (Philippe Kerbois, AMETEK Land).
  • Your vision for sustainable glass melting - Our tools: EMISSION (Matthias Haas, SORG Group).

An interactive panel session followed with addresses from Indian glass industry figures including Sanjay Agarwal (AIGMF President & Director of Kwality Glass Works), Purvish Shah (Hon AIGMF Treasurer & Director of Gopal Glass Works), Prof. A S Rao (Head of Department of Applied Physics at Delhi Technological University and member of the editorial board of KANCH) and Rajesh Khosla (AIGMF Senior Vice President and CEO/President of AGI Greenpac).

A networking lunch completed proceedings following a glasstec 2024 update from Lars Wismer, Director of Glass Technologies at Messe Düsseldorf.
